Keells Super lends a helping hand to Kotikawatte Tibet S Mahinda Vidyalaya
Keells Super firmly believes that being part of the community plays an important role and hence decided to lend a hand to Tibet S Mahinda Vidyalaya Primary School, Wennawatte, Kotikawatte which was badly affected by the recent floods. Kotikawatte was an area that was greatly affected by the recent floods. The Keells Super store at Kotikawatte was also closed for 5 days due to inaccessibility caused by the floods and the staff members of the store living in the area were also affected. Whilst ensuring the store also returned to normal operations, Keells Super felt it was necessary to extend a hand to the same community to return back to what it was.
A school plays an important role in a child’s primary education and hence it was essential that the schools began normal teaching activities in order to bring some normalcy to the student’s lives after the floods. Tibet S Mahinda Vidyalaya was one such school that was affected severely by the floods and the principal together with the staff were working together to get the school back in order so the students could return to school.
Most of the school’s stationery supplies along with the musical instruments used by the Eastern and Western bands were affected by the floods. Whilst many of the urgent needs for school children were met, the need for the musical instruments remained unmet. Answering this cry for help, Keells Super donated all the musical instruments required for the school along stationery items and first aid boxes to ensure the students still held onto a balanced education and was able to enjoy the pleasure of music at a difficult time.
Keells Super is firmly entrenched on the belief that listening to our customers and staff while ensuring the wellbeing of the communities we are present in, plays an important role in Making a Difference.
