International Scholar celebrates 17 years of Service to the Student Community
International Scholar Educational Services Private Limited (ISES) celebrated its seventeenth anniversary by establishing 15 scholarships to help the less fortunate in society. Scholarship recipients ranged from pre- school children to final year medical students. ISES is a leading Career Guidance and student placement service representing nearly 100 highly reputed universities and education institutes in seven countries.
Mr. Keerthi Jayasuriya, the chairman of Scholar Group shared some success stories of past scholarship recipients. Among the past recipients there is one, now married and living in Australia, another is a practicing Doctor, Management Accountant and an audit trainee practicing CharteredAccountancy. Among the current recipients there are 3 medical students, 2 Engineering students, 1 student studying biological science.
All scholarship are given in honour of Sri Lankan patriots past and present who haveserved mother Lanka with dedication and honour. The scholarship programme is named the “Unsung Heroes” scholarships. The list of monks among those honoured this year are the LateMost Venerable Mahanayakas,Narada, MadihePangngnaseeha, Kotahene Piyadassie, Thangalle Devananda and LabuduweSiridhamma. The distinguished lay people among honoured are Dr. HarischandraWijayathunga, Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera, Dr. Anula Wijesundara and senior journalist H. L. D.

Mahindapala.Late Messrs. S.L. Gunasekera, GaminiIriyagolla and Nihal De Mel were also honoured in this year’s Unsung Scholarship programme. The scholarship programme was initiated in 2012.
Among the distinguished invitees was ambalapitiya Vajiraramadhipathi Most Ven. ThrikunamalayeAnanda, Mahanayake of the Dharmarakkitha sect of the AmarapuraNikayawho made the key note address.
ISES was established in 1999 as a partnership and incorporated as a private limited liability company in 2002. It is the flagship in the scholar group whose other members are Scholar Promotions and Advertising Private Limited (SPA) and Scholar Management Services Private Limited (SMS). Scholar group funds this programme through its charitable arm the SCHOLAR BENEVOLENT TRUST. No other funding is received fromgovernment, non– government or any other sources.
