CIMA Sports Day 2016 – ‘Get Your Game On.’

-

CIMA Sports Day 2016, a two-day sports extravaganza organized by the CIMA Students’ Society is to be held on the 10thand 17thof July, thus upholding the streak of hosting it for a period of over 20 years.

The CIMA Sports Day is one of the most celebrated events in the CIMA Students’ Society calendar which brings together more than 1000 individuals comprising of CIMA students, exam completed students, ACMA members and other students who pursue various professional and academic qualifications and employees representing corporate organizations as well.

Establishing a platform in which one’s true sporting potential can be harnessed and brought to the fore, Sports Day is invariably an occasion where spirits as well as tensions run high amongst premier CIMA institutes, both private and state universities, and rivalling corporate bodies as well.

Organized this year under the theme “Get Your Game On”, the first leg of Sports Day 2016 will be held on the 10th of July at the Henry Pedris Basketball Courts. Catering to the basketball enthusiasts out there, the first leg will comprise of solely basketball.

The second leg of Sports Day will unfold on the 17th of July, at the Bloomfield Grounds. This daywill offer a wider array of sports; namely cricket, tag rugby, futsal and netball.

The 17th of July will also exhibit another flair of Sports Day; the Urban Challenge.

Urban Challenge, a combination of a bit of both a scavenger hunt and a race, is designed particularly for the nonparticipants among the audience who are present during Sports Day. This will test the participants in many aspects, be it your ability to make swift, hard decisions under pressure, or to uncover clues and crack codes along the way, all whilst pitting against other teams who would be competing towards ticking off the list of challenges first.

The crux of this Sports Day 2016 is the cause which has been aligned to it. Education Beyond Ability (EBA), the CSR initiative organized by CIMASS with the guidance and advice of an experienced NGO, School Relief Initiative(SRI), will renovate a Special Needs Centre(SNC) for students of a school named Dehigahalanda who are challenged with learning difficulties. The SNC will be funded by the projects organized by CIMASS over the course of the year and the generous contributions from our corporate partners. Ergo, the surplus generated from Sports Day will be channeled towards the funding of the Special Needs Centre, which aims to enable children with learning difficulties to be equipped with equal learning opportunities.
