Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2016
Essential Entertainment in collaboration with Revlon Lanka is set out to present Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2016, giving 14 young Sri Lankan women the opportunity to train and compete in the pageant. The winner of Miss Universe Sri Lanka will represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant held in the USA.
The Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2016 pageant will take place over two months, from July to August. The grand final event will be produced and choreographed by Lou Ching Wong. Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2014-2015, Marianne Page, will crown the new Miss Universe Sri Lanka .
The 14 contestants will undergo an intensive pageant training programme, inclusive of fitness training and professional and social skills. Catwalk training will be conducted by well-known catwalk choreographer and producer Lou Ching Wong, fitness training will be by Krishani George and the professional skills trainer will be Loretta Gunewardene.
The contestants will be under the expert beauty care of Revlon beauticians, with hair done by Ramzi Rahman Salons. Each participant will receive training in hair and make-up techniques.
Applications for Revlon Miss. Universe Sri Lanka opened in June 2016, calling for young women between the ages of 18 and 27 to come forward to represent Sri Lanka at the 66th Miss. Universe pageant.
The winner of this year’s Revlon Miss Universe Sri Lanka will be flown to USA for three weeks by the Miss Universe Sri Lanka organisation. She will also receive a full wardrobe designed by Michael Wijesuriya.
Contestants from more than 86 countries around the world will travel to USA for almost a month of activities leading up to the live telecast. They will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview.
The finals of the Revlon Miss Universe Sri Lanka pageant will take place on August 16 at the Hilton Colombo. The finals will be an exclusive, invitation-only two-hour event.
