SLMA holds public workshop on ‘Healthy Living’

-

The monthly Royal Asiatic Society lecture on “Two millennia of coins in Sri Lanka” will be delivered by Siri Munasinghe, Numismatic Society on Monday, July 25 at the Mahaveli Auditorium, Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 7. All are welcome.

The presentation is based on descriptions on coins found in the old manuscripts and rock inscriptions of Sri Lanka. An effort will be made to place these coins in a chronological order. Over 75 types of coins issued during the two millennia ending with the 15th century Kotte period will be shown.

A mother of two, U.L.G. Dinusha from Hokandara, is suffering from end-stage kidney failure and is due to undergo an urgent kidney transplant at the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital.

Her long illness has sent her family into financial crisis, as 39-year-old Dinusha is on regular twice weekly haemodialysis while transport and other costs have added to their woes. The haemodialysis alone per month costs Rs. 44,800.

While they have been provided some relief for the kidney transplantation through the President’s Fund, the cost of medications amount- ing to around Rs. 300,000 needed thereafter has to be met by the family.

The desperate family is seeking donations from generous people. Contributions may be sent to Account No. 067031430169-101 at the Seylan Bank’s Malabe branch in the Account Name of U.S.A. Liyanage (Dinusha’s sister).
