Bridge Knowledge Gap in Technical Education fast: AGA Batticaloa

-

Batticaloa District AGA S. Ranganathan insists on speedy measures to fill the knowledge gap in Technical Education (TechEd).

Mr Ranganathan, speaking at the Exhibition & Awareness programme held at Batticaloa Technical College (BTC), said such measures would improve TechEd within society, thereby help end unemploy- ment. The events were organized to mark National Day of Skills.

“TechEd institutions are imperative in the present times, as the introduction given on the subject, through the school curriculum, is insufficient. By filling the gaps, we can promote TechEd to the next generation,” he added.

“For students who fail in school education, TechEd provides a path to decide on a journey towards a better future. When parents and teachers guide the students correctly, we can build an improved society devoid of unemployment,” Mr Ranganathan added. Students who completed several courses at BTC received National Vocational Qualification Certificates and Technical Certificates. The government had declared July 16, National Skills Day, a few years back, to create awareness about TechEd among students. The BTC conducts training programmes on 28 subjects including Plumbing, Woodcraft, Airconditioning, Automobiles, Computer Hardware, Draftsmanship, Surveying, Welding, Electricity & Electronics. Practical sessions were held for schoolchildren to explain the courses conducted at BTC.
