HNB Diri Daru Scholarships to 750 students at a glittering ceremony

-

Hatton Nation Bank (HNB) presented scholarships worth Rs. 7 million to 750 young Sri Lankans at the HNB Diri Daru Awards ceremony recently. The students, from all parts of the country, were honoured for academic and extra-curricular achievements in the presence of school principals, parents and HNB and government officials at a glittering ceremony held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall Colombo.

Through the HNB Diri Daru scheme, HNB offered 750 scholarships to the top performers of 2015-16. This year HNB became the first bank in Sri Lanka to extend Grade five scholarships to Ordinary Level (O/L) and Advanced Level (A/L) students, in both the local GCE and London streams. The bank also rewarded students who recorded special achievements at national level in extracurricular activities such as sports, arts and inventions.

With the inclusion of the scholarships for O/L, A/L and special achievements, HNB Diri Daru now supports the education of the student population of Sri Lanka at every pivotal stage of their academic career. This also fulfills the vision of the bank which is to carve a pathway for students to gain a sound education and realize their true potential.
