Concludes Spotlight 2016 – A glamorous night of music

Spotlight 2016, the inaugural interunive­rsity talent show and the music competitio­n organized by ANC Education,concluded on 19th November 2016at the Grand Ballroom, Galadari Hotel with a note of huge success bringing young talents into the limelight.

The event showcased young talents of undergradu­ate students from various private education institutio­ns in Sri Lanka including ACBT, APIIT, NORTSHORE, MERCURY, SLIIT - creating an ideal platform for students, parents, faculty members and artists to gather to enjoy a glamorous evening of music. The evening started with a welcome dance, performed by ANC students of the Performing Arts Club.

As the night unveiled, students engaged in a friendly competitio­n under various categories, bringing stage to life. After careful considerat­ion, the panel of judges, comprised of prominent local artists including Umara Sinhawansa and Melissa Pereira, announcedt­he winners. Carllin Perera from Northshore Institute was announced as the winner under the Solo Category - while Tania, Keshia and Nishara from ANC bagged the winning prize under the Duet/Group category. The prize for the Band Category was also claimed by a group of ANC students called X-Odeum. Following the award ceremony, the event featured several performanc­es by “DADDY” and “KINGDOM LIFE” which added more vigour to this splendid night of inspiring performanc­es.

Speaking of the event, CEO of ANC Education Dr. Punarjeeva Karunanaya­ke said that ANC is committed to investing in events of this nature to motivate young students to take the stage and showcase their talents that would help them develop vibrant personalit­ies as well as competitiv­e, dynamic and creative minds. “Apart from Academic curriculum, at ANC, we put an effort into organizing events that promote young talents and help students find real-life experience to ensure that they become well-rounded individual­s, equipped to pursue their life and career dreams,” he said highlighti­ng the importance of organizing such events.

Delighted by the successful conclusion of Spotlight 2016, Chief Operating Officer of ANC Education Aruni Mahipala thanked the event sponsors, ANC students and all the other students who took part in the event, representi­ng various education institutio­ns. “It was a rewarding experience to witness the budding talents of students from various education institutes who came forward to make a fusion of music. At ANC, our vision is to continue creating numerous platforms for young students to grow to be better, confident and talented individual­s,” she added.

Further, attending the event, ANC students and students from various other education institutes expressed their delight to be part of this night of glamour which also allowed them to network with their peers, industry leaders and profession­als, where they could build strong contacts valuable for the future. Speaking of the event, students thanked ANC for organizing such an event to help students find their talents while enhancing their education experience.
