Hameedia goes green with first-ever eco-friendly store, in Pelawatte

-

Hameedia has brought its special kind of magic and its unique brand of clothing to its thousands of customers in and around Pelawatte with the recent opening of the Hameedia Showroom at No. 486, Pannipitiya Road, Talangama South, Pelawatte.

This store also goes on record as being Hameedia’s first ever purpose built eco-friendly outlet and has a whole range of environment-friendly features. Its solar power net metering system has modern LED light fittings and harnesses sunlight to a great extent. In addition, a system of rainwater harvesting has been put into place while bio-degradable bags are being used instead of polythene bags.

“We’re happy to be part of the national effort to help save the environment. It gives us a deep sense of accountability and fulfillment both to ourselves and to Sri Lanka, as a responsible corporate citizen”, said Managing Director Fouzul Hameed said,

Two key processes are also in operation at the new store in Pelawatte. There’s a 3R Implementation (reduce, reuse, and recycle) with the garbage disposal system and also the 5S system (sort, set in order, shine, standardize and sustain. “These processes will greatly minimise waste and optimise productivity” Hameed said, adding that while the usage of power and water will be minimised, paperless operations (e-business) are also in place.

Enjoying a strategic location on the main PelawattePannipitiya arterial highway, the 4300+ square metre store is spread over three floors. Open from 10 am to 8pm, it displays the latest collection of Hameedia’s brands such as Le Bond, Envoy and FH with casual wear and formal wear, sports apparel, footwear and accessories, and caters to a rapidly growing and discerning clientele.
