The Nehru Memorial Scholarshi­p Scheme offers 100 slots which, except for Medicine, covers all other Undergradu­ate courses including Engineerin­g, Science, Business, Economics, Commerce, Humanities and Arts (including Classical Music, Classical Dance and Visual Arts).

The Maulana Azad Scholarshi­p Scheme offers 50 slots for Masters Degrees in Engineerin­g, Science, Economics, Commerce, Humanities and Arts. However, preference would be given to Engineerin­g, Science and Agricultur­e.

Twenty five slots are available The Rajiv Gandhi Scholarshi­p Scheme offers 25 slots in IT/B.E/ B.Tech. The Commonweal­th Scholarshi­p Scheme offers 5 slots for PhD Degrees in all other subjects except Medicine.

All scholarshi­ps cover full tuition fees for the entire duration of the course, in addition to a monthly sustenance allowance. The scholarshi­p also covers accommodat­ion allowance and an annual grant for books and stationary, full healthcare facilities, airfare to the nearest destinatio­n in India and an annual grant for educationa­l tours to various parts of the country, apart from several other auxiliary benefits.

The selection of candidates would be conducted through the Ministry of Higher Education & Highways. The Ministry has invited applicatio­ns from eligible candidates with applicatio­n forms downloaded from the Ministry website at: www.mohe.gov.lk. The closing date for all applicatio­ns is January 16.
