Overcomes all odds

Shah Rukh Khan has proved to be a star whose presence can help overcome possible odd against a movie. The producer, director and even the cast were worried about the financial success of the film amidst the currency crisis in India. The demonetisa­tion move affected a number of films which hit the theatres before November 9.

“It’s very relieving that the film is getting such a great response. We all were very worried about it. But, I think if a film is good, it will always do well,” film’s main female star Alia Bhatt who made her first ever collaborat­ion with superstar Shah Rukh Khan told Indian media.

“May be it must have hit us about 5-10 per cent but still it’s getting a lot of love. And, I feel very grateful. I’m really happy,” she said.

Revolving around a young, lively and fabulous girl, who falls in love thrice-- each time, she gets a different perspectiv­e on life, ‘ Dear Zindagi’ ( Dear Life) is a Hindi movie directed by Gauri Shinde.

Produced by Gauri Khan, Karan Johar and Shinde under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainm­ent, Dharma Production­s and Hope Production­s respective­ly, the film features Ira Dubey, Kunal Kapoor, Angad Bedi and Ali Zafar in supporting roles.

Dear Zindagi’s plot centres on a budding cinematogr­apher named Kaira, who is in search of a perfect life and meets Dr. Jehangir, an unconventi­onal thinker. He helps Kaira in gaining a new perspectiv­e about life. She discovers that happiness is all about finding comfort in life’s imperfecti­ons.

The film has a successful run in a number of theatres in Colombo and suburbs.
