Kandy Municipal Council Overall Champions

Kandy Municipal Council (KMC) were Overall Champions at the State Services Table Tennis (TT) Championsh­ip held at the Methodist Girls’ High School, Point Pedro, last week.

TT Associatio­ns islandwide are conducting their championsh­ip tournament­s in the Provinces to

Men:

‘A’ Division- Champions: KMC ‘A’; Runner-up: Sri Lanka Customs (SLC)

‘B’ Division- Champions: Sri Lanka Police (SLP); Runner-up: Education Dept, Jaffna

‘C’ Division- Champions: Postal Dept; Runner-up: Education Dept

‘D’ Division- Champions: Postal Dept; Runner-up: Education Dept

‘A’ Division- Champions: Inland Revenue Dept (IRD); Runner-up: Colombo Municipal Council (CMC)

‘B’ Division- Champions: Railway Dept; Runner-up: SLC

Individual Championsh­ip

Men:

20-25 Years – Champion: Chathura Viskam Siriwarden­e (SLP); Runner-up: H.G.S.N. Pushpakuma­ra (Survey Dept)

26-30 Years – Champion: R.M.L. Chaturanga (Postal Dept); Eran Mallawarac­hchi (Sri Lanka Railway)

31-35 Years – M.P.B. Dissanayak­e (KMC); Runner-up: Suranga Peiris (SLP)

36-40 Years – T.R. Kingsly popularise the game and to unearth outstation talent. Earlier, the All-Island Unranked/Novices (Boys & Girls) TT Championsh­ip was held in the same venue with islandwide participat­ion.

The KMC paddlers stole the limelight, winning the Men’s ‘A’ Division and placed runners-up in the Men’s ‘B’ Division. In the individual age group (Education Dept, Jaffna); Runner-up: Karunatill­eke (IRD)

41-45 Years – Champion: S.P.G. Vithanage (KMC); Runner-up: J. Arnold (KMC)

46-50 Years – Champion: V.S. Balasubram­anium (Central Province Education Dept., Kandy); Runner-up: Jayaweera (IRD)

51-55 Years – Champion: J. Mohan (Education Dept., Jaffna); Runner-up: Chandana Perera (CMC)

55-60 Years – S.M. Safeer (KMC); Runner-up: A.D.S.K. Chandrasek­era (Survey Dept)

Women:

20-25 Years – Champion: S.A.D.A. Erangi (Survey Dept); Runner-up: Kaushi (SLC)

26-30 Years – Champion: Mallika Madushani Perera (CMC); Runner-up: Vidya Dharani (Education Dept., Jaffna)

31-35 Years – Champion: Weerasoori­ya (IRD); Runner-up: Dharani Tharanga (CMC)

36-40 Years – Champion: Pushpamala (IRD); Runner-up: Waruni Silva (IRD)

41-45 Years – Champion: S. Mayadeeli (Education Dept., Jaffna); Runner-up: Hirishi (Railway Dept) events M.P.B. Dissanayak­e, S.P.G. Vithanage and S.M. Safeer won the championsh­ip in Men’s 31-35 years, 41-45 years and 55-60 years age groups respective­ly, while Manoj Dissanayak­eS.P.G. Vithanage, Ajith Priyantha-J. Arnold and Sunil Abeygunase­keraSisira Bandara won the Men’s Doubles 30-40 years, 40-50 years and 50-60 years age groups.

40-50 Years – Champions: Ajith Priyantha-J. Arnold (KMC); Runners-up: V.S. Balasubram­anium-Sunil Karunaratn­e (Education Dept)

50-60 Years – Champions: Sunil Abeygunase­kera-Sisira Bandara (KMC); Runners-up: R.M. Ishak-Abekoon (KMC)
