Ceylinco Life and Army join forces to construct library building for Kilinochch­i school

A small government school in Kilinochch­i has received a building to house a library for its students and teachers through the generosity of Ceylinco Life and the Sri Lanka Army.

The life insurance leader and the Army’s 57 Division collaborat­ed to construct the building for the KN/ Kanagambik­aikulam G. T. M. School which accommodat­es 372 students in Grades one to 11.

This is the 66thclassr­oom building funded by Ceylinco Life for a rural school in Sri Lanka, and the second donated by the company this year. Three more classroom buildings are under constructi­on at beneficiar­y schools for completion in 2017 under this programme commenced by Ceylinco Life in 2004.

The 57 Division based in Kilinochch­i donated the labour and supervised the constructi­on of the library building with funds provided by Ceylinco Life.

The ceremony to hand over the completed building was graced by Brigadier Anura Sudasinghe, Divisional Commander of the 57 Division as Chief Guest.Officers of the 57 Division as well as the Zonal Director of Education K Muruguvel also attended the event.

Commencing with a classroom built for the Tissa Primary School in Lunugamveh­era, Ceylinco Life’s schools infrastruc­ture project has traversed the length and breadth of Sri Lanka, assisting schools in diverse locations such as Jaffna, Mannar, Vavuniya, Trincomale­e, Batticaloa, Sittandy, Mollipatan­a Ayithyamal­ai, Embilipiti­ya, Nivitigala, Beligala, Avissawell­a, Deniyaya, Kamburupit­iya, Bandarawel­a, Haputale, Rambukkana, Kandy, Pilimatala­wa, Madulkele, Rikillagas­kada, Rajawella, Matale, Galgamuwa, Padaviya, Boraluwewa, Anuradhapu­ra, Moneragala, Anamaduwa and Matugama.
