The Tea Lounge at the Edge embraces the Dilmah tea revolution in offering the finest Ceylon tea to the tea connoisseur of Sri Lanka. The beautifully designed lounge creates a relaxing atmosphere for tea lovers to unwind and enjoy a selection of over 16 varieties of artisanally crafted Dilmah Exceptional Teas.

The inaugural “Exceptional Tea Experience by Dilmah” was held on December 17 at 4 p.m. as a delightful afternoon tea, in the presence of founder of Dilmah Merrill J. Fernando, his sons Dilhan C. Fernando and Malik J. Fernando. Other attendees included VIPs and the hospitality team of Waters Edge.

Opening the event, Dilhan C. Fernando said, “I think it’s especially appropriate that this tea lounge is opening at Christmas because we’re talking about the season of goodwill, of friendship and of family. We’re very hon- oured here to be partnering with Waters Edge and together we have a very beautiful offering for guests; with the combination of the teas, its heritage, its taste, and its selection.”

The lounge features Dilmah’s Exceptional Range including its range of infusions. The collection offers handpicked teas and herbal infusions which are selected for their quality, fragrance and character. Gourmet Ceylon black and green teas, as well as herbal infusions are available in deliciously different combinations.

The award-winning culinary team at Waters Edge, led by Executive Chef Buddhika, has put together an extensive menu which is perfectly paired with the exclusive range of teas that will be served at the lounge. Some of the items on the menu also use tea as an essential ingredient in the preparation, creating a tea inspired experience for guests.

The salads, bruschetta, wraps, burgers, toasties, spicy crêpes and waffles will all have a hint of tea added on to the recipes. For dessert, the lounge will also dish out specially prepared green tea icecream, Earl Grey macaroons, and a tea twist on the traditional tiramisu, Ice-tea Sundae (a choice of icecream with tea topping and salted caramel popcorn), cakes and sweet waffles among many others. Along with freshly brewed Dilmah Exceptional tea, are tea shakes, tea mocktails, iced teas, and tea cocktails.
