‘Joys of the Season 2016’

The Annual Christmas Fiesta 2016, organized by St. Nicholas’ International College, Negombo, was held on 10th December, at the Junior College Grounds. The festivities commenced at 3.00 pm with Very Rev. Fr. Francis Senanayake, the Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocese of Colombo, gracing the opening session of Joys of the Season.

The game Zones came alive around 3.05 p.m. with kids, their parents, past pupils and well wishers converging to try their luck in numerous children’s games. The Brass Band of the college added their lilting music to the evening followed by the student’s acoustic band which added their renderings generating a festive Christmas atmosphere enlivening the joys of the evening.

The Annual Christmas Carols Service started from 5.30 pm. onwards with Very Rev. Fr. Bonnie Fernandopulle, former Rector of St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, (presently the Parish Priest of St. Mary’s Church, Dehiwala) gracing the occasion as Chief Celebrant.

The Sri Lanka Navy Oriental Band then took the stage around 8.00 p.m. and kept the congregation enwrapped with their soothing traditional carols, and yuletide songs.

The Raffle Draw to determine the winners of the three laptops and twenty mountain bikes was conducted by Mr. Joy de Alwis in five segments in between Navy Carols, and the curtain closed on the ‘Joys of the Season’ with the Director and Principal of St. Nicholas’ Rev Fr. Ruwan Deshapriya, delivering the vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem.

The Ma Bima Group and SSK Holdings came in as the Main and Principal Sponsors of the event.
