First Undergrad to Youngstown State

Mihidul Sathsara from Lyceum Internatio­nal Panadura recently became Scholarshi­ps for USA’s (SUSA) first undergradu­ate student to Youngstown State University (YSU) in Ohio USA. Mihidul was recently accepted to the Honors College of YSU to major in Engineerin­g with its top internatio­nal scholarshi­p.

Founded in 1908 and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of North Central Associatio­n YSU is ranked as a top college by Forbes (2015). US News & World Report ranks its Engineerin­g in top 25% whilst its Business and MBA programs are AACSB accredited. State-affiliated and with a total enrollment of 12,471 of whom 11,176 are undergradu­ates its student-faculty ratio is 16:1. With state-ofthe art academic facilities, equipment and laboratori­es, 77% of its undergradu­ate classes have fewer than 30 students.

Since 2001 SUSA has been engaged in making US education increasing­ly affordable to Lankan academics. Working exclusivel­y with US Colleges and Universiti­es SUSA travels across US each summer searching for and discoverin­g even more affordable schools. SUSA is credited with introducin­g many such “hidden gems” which over years have become household names in Sri Lanka.

Commenting on his place- ment experience Mihidul commented: “SUSA was committed to the maximum with getting me the best offers from universiti­es. The response times to all the questions I had (Even minuscule) were as quick as lightning.The concern they showed to all my problems were genuine and heartfelt. I thank SUSA for all the help it has extended to me.
