-

The La Petite Fleur Community warmly welcomed the Apostolic Nuncio in Sri Lanka, His Excellency the Most Reverend Dr. Pierre Nguyen Van Tot, as a distinguished guest when they celebrated the tenth year of LPF Academy, Dehiwala on January 6th 2017.

After a warm welcome by students and staff who invoked the mediation by their Patron Saint, Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower, a simple thanksgiving service took place. His Excellency unveiled a commemorative plaque, and pronounced a blessing on the community and the campus. LPF Academy is to the only school to offer Primary and Secondary levels among the La Petite Fleur Schools, who have earned a reputation for quality early education. The first was established 24 years ago and today 8 schools are spread all over the island, with another in India.

The Apostolic Nuncio, along with his Secretary Rev Fr Yan, spent several hours with the Founder & Directress, Mrs Bernadine Anderson, students and staff, parents and benefactors, absorbing the philosophy and atmosphere of LPFA. It is a school with strong beliefs in all-round, student-based, holistic education for life. A touching highlight of the morning was the moments of reminiscences and experiences shared by the students, 3 of the pioneers and some seniors including the School Captain and Sports Captain. They shared just what LPF Academy was, is, and will ever be for them, speaking with nostalgia, passion, humour, gratitude and love - a living testament to the school indeed

For forty-eight years the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) has produced thousands of IT professionals to the industry annually. As the pioneer in IT education in Sri Lanka, NIBM has always striven to update its IT courses to match the global industry requirements and to make sure that the knowledge and the training the students receive are of international standard. As the main pillar of strength, NIBM constantly trains it faculty to improve their delivery and make sure that the students receive the best from their teaching and training. Currently the institute has undertaken a rigorous process to match its courses with the Sri Lankan Quality Frame Work (SLQF) regulated by the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), regulated by the Ministry of Vocational and Skills Development. In addition, the MIS Division has the ISO 90012000 certification since 2007 to prove the true quality of education and services provided by the Division. Therefore, the decision that parents take to send their child to NIBM after AL to make their son or daughter an IT professional, will be the correct and the most prudent decision.

The Management Information Division (MIS) offers a wide array of IT courses to after AL students. For a beginner the path to earn an internationally recognized degree begins with Certificate Course in Computer Science or most popularly known as CCS. Over the last five decades the CCS course has taught the basics of computer science to millions of youth in the country. In addition to the CCS, the division also offers a range of certificate courses in Application Packages, Computer Programming, Software Engineering, Web Development, Graphic Design, Hardware and Networking. With this solid foundation the students can then decide which path they want to trod in the filed of IT by choosing from the Diploma in Computer System Design (DCSD), Diploma in Software Engineering (DSE), Diploma in Computer Networks (DCN), Diploma in Management Information Systems(DMIS) or Advanced Diploma in Advertising and Multimedia(ADAM). The path then leads to the Higher Diploma in Computer Based Information Systems (HDCBIS), Higher Diploma in Software Engineering and Higher Diploma in Computer Networks (HDCN) making the students ready for the industry. NIBM’s Computer Diploma (DCSD) and the Higher Diploma (HDCBIS) are also accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS). Since 2016 NIBM has become a CISCO Networking Academy and therefore students following the Advanced Certificate in Computer Networking and the Diploma in Computer Networks will be able to obtain the Cisco Networking Academy Certifications. In addition, the students will be eligible for a 58% discount when sitting for the CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) industry certification exam. Cisco Networking Academy is considered as the world’s largest classroom and there are more than 10,000 academies worldwide in more than 170 countries.

On successful completion of the Higher Diploma at NIBM, the students can select an internationally recognized university to complete their degree. Why join hands with NIBM?
