Dr. Lu­cas go­ing from strength to strength

Dr. Ni­mal Lu­cas, for­mer Na­tional Ta­ble Ten­nis Cham­pion and for Sri Lanka player still go­ing great guns. Re­cently at the New Zealand Masters Games held in Whanganui, New Zealand Dr. Lu­cas kept the Sri Lanka flag fly­ing high when he won four medals - two sil­ver and two bronze ex­hibit­ing his fine fit­ness and a fine dis­play of ta­ble ten­nis.

In the Men's Open Sin­gles event for 65+ the cham­pion pad­dler from the tiny is­land won a Sil­ver medal just miss­ing a Gold which was won by Tony Rut­ledge of Lower Hut while the bronze medal win­ner was David Scott of Tau­marunui. As Dr. Lu­cas was the sole par­tic­i­pant from Sri Lanka he was part­nered by New Zealan­der David Scott and the pair won a sil­ver in the Men's Open Dou­bles event for 65+.

Dr. Lu­cas play­ing the Men's over 70 Sin­gles event won a bronze medal and in the Men's 70+ Dou­bles event part­ner­ing Char­lie Che Toi Chang from Auck­land the pair went down fight­ing to win a bronze medal.
