Raveen, Rukshan steer Puttalam to victory

Raveen Yasas and Rukshan Fernando cracked half tons to steer Puttalam District to a convincing seven wicket win over Kurunegala District in the Inter-District limited over encounter played at the FTZ ground in Katunayake.

Raveen slammed 71 inclusive of eight boundaries while Rukshan made an unbeaten 69 that comprised nine boundaries and a six as the duo put on 140 runs for the third wicket. This helped Puttalam District in pursuit of 181 runs reach the target in the 37th over.

Jaffna District ended their first round campaign on a winning note when they recorded an easy four wicket over Vavuniya District in the match played at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona.

The low scoring match saw Vavuniya District taking first lease of the wicket succumbing to the bowling duo Ishara Prashan and Jeevan Mendis who shared seven wickets to have them all out for 136 and Jaffna District in their run chase raced to the target in the 21st over.Half tons by Dilshan Munaweera and Ashan Priyanjan who put on a 115 run stand for the second wicket helped Colombo District record a two wicket win over Gampaha District in the match played at the CCC ground while Mannar District overcame Polonnaruw­a District in the match played at the Colts ground.
