Two schoolgirl­s in Youth Netball team to South Korea

Two schoolgirl­s have been chosen for the Eleventh Asian Youth Netball Championsh­ips from May 7 to 14 in South Korea. They are: L. Rasmi Perera ( Presbyteri­an Balika, Dehiwela) and Tharushi Illangarat­ne ( Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo).

The Sports Minister has given the green light for 15 players including three standbys.

Nadhee Madushika Fernando of Kalutara District Associatio­n and Hashini Perera of the Sri Lanka Army have been appointed skipper and deputy skipper of the team respective­ly. Twelve Asian countries will take part in the contest.

Sri Lanka was the champions of the competitio­n held in Hong Kong in 2015.

Standbys: Ruveena Malporu (Mahamaya BV Kandy), Akila Sanji (SL Air Force), Chathuni Hansani Kumari (SL Air Force ), Manager – Renuka Kuruppu, Coach – Tamara Liyanage.
