Development

The Cabinet approved a proposal by Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies & Economic Affairs, Ranil Wickremesinghe, to accelerate Higher Education (HE) Expansion & Development.

The project expects to increase HE opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and also improve the quality in the HE sector during 2017-2022.

The International Development Agency has agreed to grant a loan of US$ 33 million and the International Bank for Reconstruction & Development has agreed to provide a loan of US$ 67 million for the project.
