10th Internatio­nal Research Conference of KDU to be held in August…

10th Internatio­nal Research Conference organized by General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University will be held on 3rd and 4th of August, 2017 under the theme of “Changing Dynamics in the Global Environmen­t: Challenges and Opportunit­ies”. KDU organized its first research conference in 2008. This year KDU marks an important milestone as it celebrates 10th anniversar­y of Internatio­nal Research Conference (IRC). The conference will feature pre-conference workshops, plenary sessions, poster sessions and technical sessions under different discipline­s including Defense and Strategic Studies, Engineerin­g, Computing, Medicine, Basic and Applied Science, Allied and Health Sciences, Law, Management, Social Sciences and Humanities and Built Environmen­t and Spatial Sciences.

The conference is a platform for prominent individual­s from both military and civil background­s to disseminat­e their knowledge. KDU’s Internatio­nal Research Conference is one of the biggest internatio­nal conference­s in the country and the only conference which brings together both military and civil scientists. It is also the only conference where personnel from all three services, namely Sri Lankan Army, Navy and Air Force present their research findings. Each year the conference attracts more than 500 papers, 1000 authors and more than 2000 participan­ts from an array of fields world over. This year KDU has invited world renowned Sr Lankan born scientists such as Prof. Chandra Wickramasi­nghe and Dr. Bandula Wijey who have made Sri Lankan proud in the internatio­nal arena to take part in this event.

General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University invites academics world over to present their research findings in the interna- tional Research Conference 2017. Authors are invited to submit abstracts, extended abstracts and full papers of previous unpublishe­d work. The preparatio­n and guidelines for abstracts and extended abstract/full papers are now available in conference website. All abstracts, extended abstracts or full papers will be subjected to a double-blind peer review process. The best oral presentati­on and poster presentati­on will be selected for awards. Conference registrati­on is now open for both authors and other participan­ts.

KDU recently called a media briefing for the 10th Internatio­nal Research Conference. Rear Admiral Jagath Ranasinghe (USP, psc; Vice Chancellor of Kotelawala Defense University, Brigadier I.P.Ranasinghe (RWP RSP ndu psc; Deputy Vice Chancellor-Defense and Administra­tion), Prof. M.H.J.Ariyaratne (Deputy Vice Chancellor-Academic), Dr.Prasanna Premadasa (Conference Chairperso­n) and Ms.A.M.T.N.Adikari (Co-secretary) participat­ed the event. KDU also presented a video demonstrat­ion on 10th Internatio­nal Research Conference followed by a media discussion with local journalist­s.

General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University, a member of the Associatio­n of the Commonweal­th Universiti­es is an emerging university in Sri Lanka empowered to award undergradu­ate and postgradua­te courses in the fields of Defense and Strategic Studies, Engineerin­g, Computing, Medicine, Basic and Applied Science, Allied and Health Sciences, Law, Management, Social Sciences and Humanities and Built Environmen­t and Spatial Sciences. The prime objective of KDU is to maintain world class standards for educating and grooming officer cadets to become outstandin­g graduates to serve as profession­als in the civilian sector in diverse fields.
