Pakistani envoy stresses on self confidence to ensure success
Pakistan's High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Maj.Gen. Syed Shakeel Hussain said students should have self confidence to achieve success.
He was addressing the Awards ceremony of Loyal Ladies College Kandy held at the Mahinda Rajapakse Auditorium at Polgolla, Kandy last week.
"Teachers do their utmost and it is for the student to know that. One should be confident of one's self. The success of any student depends on how much they care for themselves," he added.
According to the Principal, Ms F.H. Deen, from the opportunities afforded by the College, she said that in a short space of 4 years, they had 14 passes from the 17 who sat, enabling them to enter University. She said the school was 3rd in the District and came 42nd in the country.
She said there are GCE (Advanced Level) classes in Arts, Languages, Commerce and Science. The curriculum is based on the National Syllabus, though they are International in outlook. She said that, students come not only from Kandy, but also from outlying areas as well. The College is run with the assistance of a Board of Management with Fazar Mohideen as Chairman and Fazmil Thoufeek as Managing Director.
She added that Counselling is another branch the school is developing for the benefit of the students. It is a relief to many students during the short period it commenced under a qualified counsellor. Parents have also realised the value of this area. She said that, it is clear that most of the students' problems could be solved by this branch of activity, which we are developing, with some of the problems solved by this students' counselling service.
Ms Deen also said that Students' Health is also one of the key areas in which the College is interested, especially according to the National Health Policy. They are promoting health food intake for which a well prepared menu Chart was supplied to all the students' homes.
