Embarks on the first ever student exchange programme with Beijing Foreign University, China

The very first group of foreign students to participat­e at the “Summer Camp” of NSBM Green University Town arrived in Sri Lanka on 2nd May 2017. These students are a part of exchange Programme with Beijing Foreign Studies University, China.

The students are staying at the European- style student accommodat­ion at the Green campus, and have a Summer Camp planned for them. Visits to historical places in Sri Lanka, experienci­ng the life in a tropical country during this camp is arranged. Up to now they have visited the Sri Lankan markets and had a city tour in Colombo. They also the enjoyed recreation­al activities of NSBM students and participat­ed in practicing the aesthetics too. The programme includes them visiting wonders of Asia such as the Sigiriya fortress and experienci­ng the Vesak lantern exhibition in Gangaramay­a Vesak zone later this week and next. The party will leave the island on 12th May 2017.

The exchange programme includes a group of NSBM students visiting China as well. They will have the same experience with visiting historical monuments and going through the Chinese lifestyle activities.

The NSBM Green University Town was inaugurate­d at the 26 acre campus complete with top-notch facilities, in Pitipana Homagama last October. Initiated under the ministry of Skills Developmen­t and Vocational Training, the NSBM aims to fulfill a much- sought out option of complete university experience for the students who miss state university entry in two or three points. Among the objectives of the NSBM Green University Town, is to give the Sri Lankan students an ideal opportunit­y to pursue their higher education at a lesser cost than going abroad, also to bring in foreign students making NSBM a regional higher education hub, whilst earning foreign income. Arrival of this group of students from Beijing Foreign University, China is the first step of this endeavour.

The NSBM Green Campus is the first and the only sustainabl­e initiative in South Asia and has the capacity to host 30,000 undergradu­ates at a given time. Currently there are 9,000 students following Management, Computing and Design Studies Degree programmes. NSBM offers local-UGC approved degree programmes as well as degrees from Foreign Universiti­es in UK, Australia, Ireland and Malaysia.
