Amazon Teas own brand English Tea Shop announces sponsorship agreement with Surrey County Cricket Club
English Tea Shop, the global independent speciality tea company, has announced a new partnership with Surrey County Cricket Club. As well as becoming the new sponsor of the club’s Ben Hollioake Learning Centre, the deal will also see English Tea Shop’s range of organic teas and tisanes stocked throughout the ground, in both public and hospitality areas.
The one year deal will see the Ben Hollioake Centre, used every day by primary schools from across the Kia Oval’s local community, benefit from improved levels of funding.
Headquartered in the UK but producing its teas in its own factory; Amazon Trading PVT LTD in Sri Lanka, English Tea Shop has always been committed to giving back to local communities. The organic tea specialist has given over £56,000 in funding to local organic organisations in the last year to a wide variety of initiatives in Sri Lanka.
Suranga Herath, CEO at English Tea Shop and Amazon Teas said: “English Tea Shop is all about premium-quality, organic tea – the perfect accompaniment to an afternoon at the Cricket.
“We proudly source our tea from Sri Lanka, and with the incomparable Kumar Sangakkara in such blistering form in his final season, the timing is perfect for us to sponsor the venerable Surrey CCC and the Kia Oval.
“As a business that places learning and development at the core of everything we do, we’re doubly pleased to be the official sponsor of the Ben Hollioake Learning Centre. All of us at English Tea Shop are completely barmy for cricket, and are looking to a fantastic season at the Kia Oval.”
The Ben Hollioake Centre opened in October 2006 and is named after the Surrey and England cricketer who tragically died in a car accident in Australia in 2002. It works with a large number of local primary schools, hosting after school clubs and also assisting teachers with in school work.
Last week, pupils of eight of the schools that work with the centre, competed in a special tournament on the Kia Oval outfield – with the final prize presented by HRH the Prince of Wales on his visit to the ground to mark the start of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
Charlie Hodgson, Commercial Director at Surrey CCC, added: “We’re very happy to be welcoming the English Tea Shop on board at the Kia Oval, especially to be the sponsor of the Ben Hollioake Learning Centre, one of our longest serving and most effective community programmes.
“The club is flourishing both on and off the field and this creates exciting opportunities to partner with new companies, improving existing programmes and helping the club to ever further success.”
