AMDT gears up for the Showcase 2017

-

It’s that time of the year again, when Sri Lanka’s next generation of creative professionals graduating from the Academy of Multimedia Design Technology, are preparing to showcase their work in Design, Advertising, Fashion, Filmmaking, Animation & Photography. Excitement and anticipation are in the air as this is the first time many of the students will be putting on a show of their talents. AMDT creates this platform every year for their students with the mission of exposing them to a wider audience of both professionals and the public. The creative industries in Sri Lanka see the Showcase as a place to spot the next wave of talent before it goes out to the world to make a name for itself.

This also happens to be the final lesson AMDT imparts to its students before they ‘leave the nest’ after months and years of hard work. The graduating class is put through a special program designed to train them in the arts of Portfolio Creation & Presentation, Self Branding& Self Promotion, curating your own show, etc. The theme #ThisIsMyShowemphasizes the fact that this is a sneak preview of the solo shows that our students will put on later in their professional careers. The students star in their own advertisements and pose for their own posters promoting their show. This helps them break their own inhibitions and come out of the shell. Many are afraid to put themselves out there in the public eye or promote themselves to the right audience. Creating a higher brand purpose for yourself, identifying and understanding your target audiences are all essential for creative professionals going out into the world today. This training is conducted by AMDT faculty members who have built brands for themselves in their respective creative industries.

At its core, the event is a celebration of creativity as much as it’s a triumph of talent. Sri Lanka does not have many events or festivals that celebrate genuine local talent in creative disciplines. Therefore, AMDT’s annual Showcase is something to look forward to for creative professionals in fashion design & marketing, filmmaking, advertising, photography, animation and others.

Head over to The Ramada Colombo on the 2nd of July to experience a celebration of creativity at the AMDT Showcase 2017.

Entrance is free.
