The Royal Institute of Colombo (RIC) is the tertiary arm of Royal Institute Pvt (Ltd) but operates as an independent institute, providing quality education for over 40 years, since its inception in providing courses for external degrees of University of Colombo and University of Peradeniya. RIC meets societal challenges with diverse knowledge. Multi-faceted students with eminent lecturers and tutors at the heart make RIC an inspiring place to study, with a continuous flow of new knowledge and ideas.
Royal Institute of Colombo (RIC) and University of London (UoL)
Since 1990, RIC functioned as an accredited campus for the prestigious University of London International Programmes, offer- ing Degrees in Law, Economics, Mathematics, Management, Accounting, Finance, International Development, International Relations and a Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law. In addition, Certificate of Higher Education in Social Sciences (CHESS) prescribed by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is also on offer. We have been accredited the “Affiliate” Status for the University of London, and is the only institute to have this title in the country.
RIC is proud to be the oldest institute in the country to boast a partnership with the University of London for over 26 years. It has produced over 1500 University of London graduates with ‘Splendid Academic Achievements’ and ‘World’s Best results, with an excellent 97% pass rate in the final year.
The International Foundation Programme
An International Foundation Programme from the University of London is on offer to post O/L students, who can graduate in a minimum of 4 years. The academic direction for this programme is provided by the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Master of Laws (LL.M)
The Master of Laws (LL.M) from University of London offers both legal and non-legal professionals to advance in their career. Queen Mary and University College London (UCL), jointly provide academic management for this programme, offered through University of London International programmes.
RIC and Deakin University in Melbourne
Since 2012, RIC in partnership with Deakin University - Australia offers 3 Degree pathways in Engineering, Science, Environment and also a foundation programme for students who do not have the sufficient grades to enter the degree programme directly. This provides the oppor- tunity for a Sri Lankan student to commence the degree at RIC and complete it in Australia.
