Empowered to change...

W.M.K. Malsha Weerasinghe I joined BCAS in 2015 as a student of Teacher Training Program (TTP) 16 batch. When I first joined the program I didn’t have much professional experience in primary teaching. TTP at BCAS provided me with the opportunity to experience a different side of learning and challenged me to be a professional teacher. I interacted with my lecturers to apply my skills in their lectures such as Psychology, Classroom management, Methodology etc…

TTP at BCAS provided all opportunities that helped me to become a successful teacher. It is not simply a teacher training program but it also provided opportunities to meet people from different educational backgrounds and work collaboratively. On completion of the TTP I was able to develop both my professional and personal skills and apply them at my work place School Bus Play and Elementary, where I am the assistant head teacher.

When I recall the time I spent at BCAS studying for my Professional Diploma in Teaching (batch 02), it gives me a happy and very pleasant memory which changed my life into a very positive and productive one..

The inspiration and dedication of teachers at BCAS, was the driving force behind me to become an independent learner. The course helped me to understand variety of learning techniques which made learning interesting and enjoyable. Most importantly, liaising and planning with teachers to develop different activities were also taught me a great deal of practical skills which immensely helped me to achieve my dream of running a successful preschool by myself. Learning psychology in the course gave me a great insight about language, emotional as well as mental development of a child.

I would like to say that the responsibility of a teacher doesn’t end with the school day. Teaching provides extensive and sometimes exhausting challenges but the rewards far outweighs the negatives.

Through hard work, determination and with the knowledge I received through BCAS it helped me to enhance my career as a teacher and the owner of School Bus Play and Elementary School in Kandy, I do look forward to being able to contribute to this profession immensely.
