ast month Kynsey Road Colombo warmly welcomed the new kid on the block, boutique hotel “Maniumpathy” – one of the latest ventures for Manor House Concepts. The organisers opened the property in style with some festive tea tasting and goodies, an ideal afternoon delight.

Maniumpathy, a renovated heritage home, is the latest addition to the Manor House Concepts six properties which are strategically located in Sri Lanka’s most picturesque destinations offering experiences in style and serenity.

Manor House Concepts are known for representing the crème de la crème of Sri Lanka’s boutique hotels. The company has hotels all over the country like‘The Kandy House’ and ‘Taylors Hill’ in Kandy, ‘The Last House’ and ‘Coco Tangalla’ in Tangalle,‘Casa Heliconia’near the Colombo Airport and now‘Maniumpathy’ in the heart of Colombo!

Built in 1906, Maniumpathy has been home to five generations of a family originating from Jaffna. The family abode has now been renovated, trans- formed into a hotel with the aim of immersing guests with fine taste in a nostalgic atmosphere.

Filled with charm and character the hotel comprises 8 double rooms. Each room is uniquely furnished with antique furniture and fittings.

The menu at Maniumpathy pays homage to the previous inhabitants’ Jaffna roots with added twists. Guests are offered options to dine on a range of international flavours on the verandah or private terraces according to their preference.

The property facilities include a swimming pool surrounded by lush green foliage and the gardens have little spots of private respite for those seeking inti- mate settings to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.

The whole property is an antiquarian’s paradise with various antiques proudly displayed– from majestic light fittings to old family heirlooms and photos .

Whilst opening the doors to Maniumpathy, Manor House Concepts also celebrated a milestone for Ceylon tea celebrating 150 years by hosting a tea tasting of the most famous Ceylon brew.

The tea tasting was moderated by Teaeli – Sri Lanka’s first designer tea brand and true local retailer of artisan, single- estate, blended loose leaf teas. The legacy of tea in Sri Lanka was celebrated sip by sip with explanations given by the hosts on the tones and hints of the freshly brewed Ceylon classic. The evening tea was complimented by an assortment of goodies and a luxurious view overlooking the serene garden of Maniumpathy.
