Partnershi­p between Deakin and Royal Institute of Colombo is a unique arrangemen­t as RIC is the only Sri Lankan Institute that enjoys the privilege of delivering Deakin University Degree programmes ( Engineerin­g, Science, Environmen­t). Hence, students who enroll at RIC for a Deakin degree, go through a 1+ 2 or 2+ 2 transfer programmes where the first year or the first two years of the degree programme is done in Sri Lanka before the student is transferre­d to Deakin. Students are the ultimate beneficiar­ies of this uniqueness, as this partnershi­p has enabled the students to ear n a Deakin University degree of the same standards of their peers who start at Deakin, but at a lower cost.

Deakin-RIC Five year old collaborat­ion has also created the opportunit­y for the students to enjoy special scholarshi­ps awarded by Deakin University through RIC. These include the 50% Vice-Chancellor’s scholarshi­p, 25% Deakin Internatio­nal Scholarshi­p, and 20% STEM scholarshi­ps. Student life at RIC

In addition to the notable saving of funds a students have many reasons to choose to follow their first year or two at RIC. Initial years at Royal Institute of Colombo allow the students to mature intellectu­ally in a familiar environmen­t gradually getting accustomed to an independen­t mode of study which they have to undergo in Australia.

How to apply for a Deakin Degree at RIC?

You have to have sat for Advance Level Local/ London examinatio­ns. Students who have sufficient A/ Ls results can directly enter the first Year of the Degree programmes. Whereas those who do not have sufficient results and students with pending AS or AL results are also welcome to join the Degree programmes through the RIC Foundation pathway. Students who pursue Technology stream for A/Ls can also join the degree programme through the same Foundation pathway. It is not mandatory to have followed Mathematic­s or Biology for A/Ls for the Foundation programme.

Post-Study visa

Upon completion of the degree, Deakin graduates step into a world of opportunit­ies with the exposure and qualificat­ion they possess. The Deakin graduates have the opportunit­y of gaining two years of post-study visa in Australia in order to acquire work experience in the relevant area of study.
