How does Deakin - RIC partnership help students?
Partnership between Deakin and Royal Institute of Colombo is a unique arrangement as RIC is the only Sri Lankan Institute that enjoys the privilege of delivering Deakin University Degree programmes ( Engineering, Science, Environment). Hence, students who enroll at RIC for a Deakin degree, go through a 1+ 2 or 2+ 2 transfer programmes where the first year or the first two years of the degree programme is done in Sri Lanka before the student is transferred to Deakin. Students are the ultimate beneficiaries of this uniqueness, as this partnership has enabled the students to ear n a Deakin University degree of the same standards of their peers who start at Deakin, but at a lower cost.
Deakin-RIC Five year old collaboration has also created the opportunity for the students to enjoy special scholarships awarded by Deakin University through RIC. These include the 50% Vice-Chancellor’s scholarship, 25% Deakin International Scholarship, and 20% STEM scholarships. What’s more for a student looking for a world class degree at an affordable cost!
Student life at RIC

How to apply for a Deakin Degree at RIC?
You have to have sat for Advance Level Local/ London examinations. Students who have sufficient A/ Ls results can directly enter the first Year of the Degree programmes. Whereas those who do not have sufficient results and students with pending AS or AL results are also welcome to join the Degree programmes through the RIC Foundation pathway. Students who pursue Technology stream for A/Ls can also join the degree programme through the same Foundation pathway. It is not mandatory to have followed Mathematics or Biology for A/Ls for the Foundation programme.
Post-Study visa
Upon completion of the degree, Deakin graduates step into a world of opportunities with the exposure and qualification they possess. The Deakin graduates have the opportunity of gaining two years of post-study visa in Australia in order to acquire work experience in the relevant area of study.
