Message from Chairperson & Chief Executive Sri Lanka Export Development Board

-

Iam pleased to send this message of felicitation after concluding the 21st Presentation of the Presidential Export Awards ( PEA) 2016 on 14th September, 2017 at the BMICH with a resounding success.

Presidential Export Awards are the most prestigious awards for exports in Sri Lanka which has over the years set a remarkable benchmark aimed at promoting exports and international trade in Sri Lanka and is presented to exporters who have made a significant contribution to the export efforts of our country.

The Award’s importance has been testified by the consistent increase in the number of applications received which is an encouraging sign in terms of the country’s export drive. This year’s ceremony has recognised exporters for their excellence in the year 2016 and the award symbolises the enormous contribution and commitment extended by the exporters for the development of the country.

With the aim of the government to further liberalise trade and revitalise Sri Lanka’s export competitiveness, export development has been placed high on the government’s agenda. Creating investment policies to address and overcome barriers and enhance the export sector is one of the main priorities. Keeping the governments agenda in mind, EDB gives the highest priority to facilitate exporters to increase exports and recognise them to realise excellence in their respective sector. I thank all exporters for their tremendous effort in taking the country forward in its export drive. Indira Malwatte Chairperson & Chief Executive Sri Lanka Export Development Board
