Profile: R.S.Withanage

Rayo Salahadin Withanage is the Founder, Group Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Scepter Partners.

Mr. Withanage is also a Founder, Executive Chairman, Director, Member of Executive Board, and Head of Business Development of BMB Group. He is an anchor investor in all BMB activities while leading the private investment activities of core stakeholders. He is the Founder and Executive Chairman of the BMB and its subsidiaries.

Upon BMB’s spin out of assets to Scepter, he has spearheaded the development of the merchant banking and principal investment businesses. He is a private investor in all Scepter activities ad drives its interaction with government leaders.

He is the Principal Founder of The Withanage Group. He also served as the Founding President of the World Zakat Fund and a Founding Member of the Royal Islamic Council. Trained as an Attorney, Mr. Whitanage developed a successful career as a merchant banker with positions at a number of private equity firms.

He was named in the Financial Times 100 rising stars of finance and is widely regarded as financiers and principal investors for houses in the Middle East and Asia. He was trained as an M&A lawyer and he went into direct investments and began his career as a successful investor in emerging markets. He is a Director of the Royal Council. He is actively engaged in the fields of finance and sustainability with The University of Chicago and Harvard University.

Mr. Withanage received a LLB in Law and a B.A. in Government from The University of Auckland, New Zealand and a Masters in Strategy from The London School of Economics.
