When discipline is the crying need of the hour in Sports, the Old Benedictines took the right decision by electing Maj.Gen. Channa Gunatilleke, as the President of the Old Benedictines’ Sports Club (inaugurated in 1958) at its Annual General Meeting held at the Rev Bro Alban Patrick Pavilion, Kotahena, on Sept.29 at 6.30 pm.

Maj.Gen. Channa Goonetilleke had his education at St Benedict’s College Colombo 13 from 1967 to 1976.

He followed the Basic Officer Cadet Course at the Sri Lanka Military Academy Diyatalawa, passing out as the Best All Round Officer Cadet winning the Sword-of-Honour.

He was recognised for his gallantry and is a recipient of the Vishishta Seva Vibushanaya for distinguished service.
