Lumbini win first innings by one run at Uyanwatta

The under 19 division one traditiona­l encounter between St Thomas College Matara and Lumbini College was an evenly balanced game which ended in a draw at the Uyanwatta Stadium. Lumbini won the first innings by one run.

Lumbini electing to bat first were restricted to 165 runs in 47.5 overs while St Thomas continuing from their overnight score of 127/7 fell one run short being bowled out for 164. Vinu Hemalankar­a topped the score card for Lumbini with 28 off 30 balls with two boundaries and two sixes while skipper Tharusha Kavindya scored 31 off 39 balls with five boundaries for STC.

Lahiru Dilshan ( STC) and Vimukthi Ku l at h u n g a (Lumbini) captured four wickets each.

Lumbini declared their second innings at 192/ 8 with Sandunil Sankalpa and Raveesha Sathsara scoring half tons. Sachira Rashmika captured four wickets while Gishanthik­a Jayaweera captured two. St Thomas needing 194 runs to win were 105/6 at close of play. Hirantha Lakshan was unbeaten on 29 while skipper Kavin Peiris was rewarded with four wickets
