Message from the Chairman FITIS

Undoubtedly, ICT has become one of the main pillars of modern Sri Lanka society, especially after the enormous developments that the ICT industry witnessed all around the world. In this regard, FITIS has played a pivotal role in driving the growth and development within the local ICT market. I consider myself honoured at this grate moment as Chairman FITIS to assume responsibility in organising INFOTEL-2017, annual exposition marking the 25th anniversary while harnessing government’s this year theme for the event, “Towards a Digital Economy”.

The future fully-connected world will have a far-reaching impact on every individual, organisation, and industry. To stay connected, humanity has always sought to overcome the limits of time and space. This eternal drive is deeply-rooted in our need for emotional engagement, and has developed through the pursuit of greater efficiency. FITIS lucky to be at the forefront of this enduring human drive.

Rapid and continuous developments in ICT are dramatically changing how we live and work. Together with our partners, we are committed to building a Better Connected World through INFOTEL-2017. With our innovative ICT products, services, and solutions, thus creating value for national progress. As we can see, ICT is driving the tremendous advancement of society. Today, ICT is not only an important tool helping people overcome the limits of time and space to stay connected, but it is also a powerful driver for technological innovation, management transformation, and business restructuring. More importantly, ICT plays a crucial role in helping nations worldwide develop their economies, seize the strategic high ground in the coming industrial revolution, and enhance their overall national and international competitiveness.

INFOTEL evolved to be the largest national event of the ICT industry, a brain child of Hon Prime Minister RanilWickramsinghe in 1992. This level was achieved as FITIS been the most responsible and collaborative industry contributor for 25 years. We will work more openly with top global stake holders to create a simplified, standardized, and easy to harness business platform through INFOTEL. We have been working with more likeminded partners to improve these standards, and ultimately contribute to national progress.

The wind is rising and our sails are full. We will work with our partners to undertake this historic mission. We will leverage industry development opportunities to fully unleash the potential of ICT. Our goal is to promote industry innovation and transformation, and build a Better Connected country. I with grate gratitude take this opportunity to mention all supporting hands in public and private sector, without them this wouldn’t have reach to this level.
