Maris Stella in line to secure outright win

Maris Stella Negombo were line to record an outright win against St John’s Panadura on the second session of second day at Negombo.

Resuming from their overnight score of 105 for 8, the Johnians were all out for 129 in their first inning. Being asked to follow on with a deficit of 207 they were struggling on 129 for 5.

St Benedict’s too are in the box seat against Moratu MV at Kotahena. St Benedict’s after bowling out their opponents for a low score of 116, the Benedictin­es went on to make a score of 271 with overnight batsman Kaveeska Jayatillek­e making a top score of 79.

Zahira has already taken a first inning lead over B a n d a r a n ay a k e MMV Gampaha on day two in the mat ch being played at Maradana. Zahira in reply to their opponents score of 116 resuming from their overnight score of 186 for 6 made 211.

The match between Ananda and De Mazenod at Ananda Mawatha which had an early finish on day one saw the Mazenodian­s from their overnight score of 77 for 5 going on to make a score of 211 and in reply Ananda were on 52 for 1.
