-

MBD, one of India’s largest education companies and the most prolific book publisher in the country, has donated 1,000 copies of Learnwell Science books for Sri Lankan students. The books were recently handed over to the Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam by MBD’s Sri Lanka Country Manager Jayampathy Arambepola.

The internationally recognised brand of educational books which has gained a reputation for its wealth of information have been specifically translated into Sinhala for the benefit of the local student body, the Indian company said in a media release.

Speaking on behalf of this philanthropic venture, Ms. Monica Malhotra Kandhari, Managing Director of MBD said, “We at MBD have made it our mission to provide children with the best in terms of educational material. The reputed Learnwell books, which are available in 40 countries for students from grades one to 10 have superseded the rest. We are pleased to introduce the innovative concepts to the Sri Lankan students who will have the privilege to learn Science from a text book, which is on par with international standards.”

The specific approval was granted after a thorough research by the erudite scholars and educationists of Sri Lanka. The most significant fact is the availability of this international publication to the Sri Lankan students who have the privilege of reading it in the vernacular.
