The need for continued support is something that CSCT Management and staff value. Therefore, it was important for us to ensure that students have options once they leave the “classroom”. CSCT support its students in this idea by guiding them no matter what their future aspiration is – further education or a career in the construction industry. CSCT provides support to students who do not want to pursue further education by facilitating placements and even future employment. In fact, many employers seek CSCT student’s out for employment even 31 Beenu Melaka Jayasinghe 32 Chamindika Sachith Abeysinghe 33 Chaturika Dulani Wagawatta 34 D A P G S Abeysiriwardana 35 D G Amila Iresh Doremure Gamage 36 D.M. The Sydney Guneratne scholarship fund was established in 2016 and this cohort of students are the 1st group eligible for a half or full scholarship. The late Sydney Guneratne was a pioneer of Sri Lankan industry. Mr Guneratne was one of 3 brothers who ran Elk-Arc - Guneratne Industries, a company that manufactured welding transformers for various industries including the construction industry. In his memory, Mr Ben Guneratne started this scholarship to honour his father and to encourage young students to become high achievers. At this Graduation ceremony, Anjana Sandeepa was awarded the first such scholarship based on his outstanding academic performance. These scholarships support students to academically excel which is of great importance to CSCT Management and staff.

CSCT provides options for those students who do not wish to travel overseas for further studies through its partnership with the University of Salford, UK. In fact, most of our graduates today will join one of the degree programmes offered at CSCT such as the BSc ( Hons) In Quantity Surveying or the BSc ( Hons) in Construction Project Management conducted in partnership with the University of Salford. The Quantity Surveying degree offered through the University of Salford is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the premier professional institution that globally recognises and accredits appropriate qualifications. 62 Mohamed Amri Shahid Abdeen 63 Mohamed Mihilar Zameer Ahamed 64 Mohamed Nusky 65 Mohomed Shuhail Nizar 66 P A Asith Indika Wickrama 67 P A Kushil Randunu Bernard Perera 68 P Jeewa Chinthaka De Silva 69 Pakkeer Jaufar Akram Ali 70 Praveen Sanjaya Ketangodage 71 R.A.Hasitha Maduranga 72 R.Viranga Lakmal Jayadewa 73 Rakitha Priyadharshana Porogama 74 Ramesh Lahiru Palliyaguru 75 Ruchira Ishan Dias Jayawardena 76 S W Priyankara Pushpakumara 77 S W S S S Wathukara 78 S. Graduation day is an exciting time not only for students but also for us here at CSCT, as it allows us to see the fruits of our labour. It provides us the opportunity to see the growth and development students have experienced being a part of a likeminded community and the hope they have for their future. As a student of CSCT, we do not look at graduation day as the end of our involvement but the beginning of an exciting future and an opportunity for us for continued engagement. The pathways that CSCT offers provide students with many options in fact just recently we have been able to provide a pathway not only for our existing diploma students but also for students who have completed other qualifications such as the National Diploma in Technology & other NVQ level 4 / 5 Qualifications & the Institute of Quantity Surveyors Sri Lanka (IQSSL) Part 3 diploma to enter in to our tertiary education programmes. By providing students with a pathway, they have the opportunity to excel further in their career and educational goals thus becoming productive members of society. These pathways are not only available to young school leavers but also to mature age students who wish to formalise their work experience.

Being a CSCT student is to be a part of a community, one which supports each other in all their educational and career aspirations. On behalf of all staff at CSCT, we would like congratulate the outgoing class of 2017 and look forward to seeing you excel in all your endeavours.
