erdinand’, latest animated comedy based on Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson’s children’s book The Story of Ferdinand is now being screened in theatres in Colombo. Directed by “Rio” famed Carlos Saldanha, the film features the voices of John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Anthony Anderson, Bobby Cannavale, Peyton Manning, Gina Rodriguez, Miguel Ángel Silvestre, and David Tennant. The film relates the story of a giant bull with a big heart. After being mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and take away from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure. Set in Spain, Ferdinand proves you can’t judge a bull by its cover.

Produced by Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox Animation, the film also received nomination­s for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song at the 75th Golden Globe Awards.

The screening of Iranian film ‘Azar, Shahdokht, Parviz and others’ followed by a discussion will be held at 4 pm on December 28 at the Iran Cultural Centre, Colombo.

Directed by Behruz Afkhami and written by Marjan Shirmohamm­adi and Behruz himself, the film revolves around Shahdokht the wife of the famous actor Parviz, who acciden- tally enters the world d of cinema by being cast as an actress in Parviz’s last film and becomes a serious rival to him. He becomes jealous of her and their relationsh­ip becomes sour. Until their daughter who lives in Europe suddenly return home without notice. The film stars Amirali Danaei, Mehdi Fakhimzade­h, Gohar Kheirandis­h, Marjan Shirmohamm­adi, S A Azadeh Esmaeilkha­ni an and Rambod Javan in the main cast.
