Info Dept. can’t duck this blunder on Prince Edward
It is the Government Department of Information that disseminates official informa- tion.
One would naturally expect it to be not only accurate but also responsible, for it is this department which finds fault when the media are wrong.
Just this week, the department described the guest of honour for today’s 70th Independence Day celebrations, Prince Edward, a member of the British Royal family as “the Duck of Edinburgh….”
It was in a letter to media outlets inviting “Media Coverage on 04.02.2017” or last year. The event was listed for February 4, the 70th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s Independence at Temple Trees.
