Meet Australian university representatives at Edlocate in Colombo & Kandy

The interview sessions organized by Edlocate for students contemplating of undertaking tertiary studies in Australian universities, is an ideal opportunity to know more about the status of Australian universities, the different strengths of them, the opportunities for scholarships open for high achievers, the openings available at different universities to get related work experience on completion of courses and thereby the ability to join Australian work force.

These interview sessions will be conducted on 13th, 14th 15th and 16th February in Colombo at the Edlocate Colombo office at 79/5, Horton Place, Colombo 7 and at Queens Hotel, Kandy on 19th February. Representatives from the following universities will be present to meet with you in person;

Study Group of Australia - conducting Foundation Year of Australian National University, University of Sydney, University of Western Australia and Flinders University too will be represented.

All Australian universities except just a handful are subjected to regular audits by authorities to ensure that courses are updated regularly to meet international standards. Australian universities attract students from all over the world and thus need to keep to high standards and readily agree to independent reviews by organizations that carry out ranking audits. This ensures the high acceptance of Australian degrees internationally.

Edlocate also represents a number of pathway institutions too. To enter an undergraduate course directly a student must have 3 AL passes in one and the same sitting with the required grades. For those students who do not have direct entry qualifications, a university Foundation Course is the best pathway. Students with excellent O/L results could seek graduating in an accelerated manner through university Foundation programmes. Representatives from Trinity College , UNSW Global, Deakin College and from the Study Group will explain students the Foundation and other pathways to University education.

Edlocate has placed thousands of students in Australian universities from our very first student - Dr. Piraveenan Mahendrarajah in the year 2000. He was a recipient of a full scholarship from the University of Adelaide based on his excellent performance at the GCE A/L examination. He is presently a senior lecturer with the Faculty of Engineering & Information Technologies of The University of Sydney. Many Edlocate students who are high achievers were assisted by Edlocate to secure scholarships awarded by most of the universities we represent. These scholarships are awarded purely on merit and range from 25 %– 100% tuition fee remission and the representatives will assess your chances at the sessions so that you can have a head start to secure one.

The biggest advantage in doing tertiary studies in Australia is the ability to get work experience in your skill area following completion of the academic courses. Almost all Australian universities have industry placements during the study periods so that students put theory into practice by working with an industry partner on real business projects. They thus start building professional network as part of their degree. To successfully enter the work force in the chosen career one needs to prove to the prospective employer the ability to contribute as a dynamic worker in the workplace and work placements offers this opportunity. The University representatives are well aware of these strengths of their respective universities and discussing these opportunities will certainly help students to make the right decision on selecting the university, course and the pathway.

To successfully start your career and to start it at the right level in keeping with your academic qualifications, you need to have related proven work experience and Australia is one of the few developed countries in the world that offer international students this facility. Australia offers all international students doing bachelor and masters degree courses up to 2 years of post study work visa in order to gain work experience. The ones who really prove their capabilities are even offered employment opportunities with these companies which are an added bonus.

Edlocate counselors will be in attendance along with the university representatives to ensure proper follow up leading to enrolments/ visa applications and to enable students to lodge applications to selected universities without incurring an application fee for the July 2018 intake. In order to do so please bring along your O/L & A/L results ( applications could be lodged pending results with a letter from school authorities), Degree or Professional qualification certificates for PG applicants, IELTS/ PTE results (If available) and the passport. The sessions will also help postgraduate students to seek assistance in selecting their courses, finding supervisors and scholarships and HND students to discuss maximum credit options for their top up degrees.
