ANC-MMI celebrates children’s book week

-

ANC- Modern Montessori International, a member of Modern Montessori International ( London), considers it a part of preschool education to expose children to reading from a young age, for it lays the foundation for their academic success: it’s the stance of the Moder n Montessori International ( London) to maximize the opportunities for children to explore the delightful world of literacy. Children’s Book Week at ANC-MMI is an annual celebration of children’s literature and the joy of reading. This year’s event was celebrated under the theme of “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader” last week.

There were several interesting activities including storytelling sessions and book character dress- ups designed to introduce children to the beautiful world of the printed text. Parents were also invited to take part in storytelling sessions, and the children looked very animated as they were listening to their parents and teachers. Each class brought stories to life as children acted out fables and fairy tales that featured some underlying moral statement.

One of the greatest things teachers and parents can do for their students / children is to nurture and grow the love of reading in them as it leads to improved cognitive skills and higher levels of performance at school. However, as a result of digital entertainment, children are being less engaged with reading today. In this context, it’s praiseworthy that ANC-MMI has made teaching literature through different activities a cornerstone of its curriculum to ensure that every child is equipped to be the leaders of tomorrow.
