Rotaract Champions League 2018 ends in style

The annual sports carnival Rotaract Champions League 2018, organised by Rotaract District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives, ended in a high note with General Sir John Kotalawela Defence University retaining the overall title for the fourth consecutiv­e year.

The event was held for the fourth consecutiv­e year on January 20, 21, 27 and 28. The first weekend included teams representi­ng different Rotaract Clubs, battling against each other in badminton, table tennis, futsal, chess, carrom, swimming and handball. The final weekend of the much awaited event was held at the University of Colombo grounds and consisted of various sports including basketball, tag rugby, tug of war, athletics, cricket and tennis.

The event came to a close on January 28 with a special ceremony which crowned the Rotaract Club of General Sir John Kotelawela Defence University as the fourth time undefeated champions of the event. The Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance won the Shield for the first runners up while the Rotaract Club of Excellence College of Management took home the Shield for the place of second runners-up.

Rotaract Champions League 2018 thus ended on a successful note due to the unbeatable effort put in by the organising committee led by the Rotaract District Committee and the Rotaract Clubs that hosted each sport.

The event ensured that all Rotaractor­s of the District enjoyed taking part in sports in an atmosphere of fellowship and competitio­n. Rotaract Champions League is one of the most significan­t events on the Rotaract calendar which highlights the spirit of Rotaract as a youth movement focusing on team spirit and leadership skills.
