Sachin and Avancka top RCGC Grand Prix

The Royal Colombo Golf Club Annual Grand Prix reached a climax when Sachin De Silva achieved the top rank in the gross ratings, ranked No 1 by a clear margin from youngster Vinod Weerasingh­e with veteran golfer Ranil Peiris in third place.

The Grand-Prix introduced to the RCGC in 1983, provides 25 stipulated Rounds of Competitio­n throughout the Golf Calendar year from April – March 31st, the following year. All participan­ts in the Grand-Prix stipulated events accumulate points and the most consistent player through the year earn the number 1 ranking at the RCGC.

The Handicap division of A, B & C are considered for the Overall rankings and the Gross Score and Nett Score Ratings are monitored separately, building up competitiv­e interest through the year. Whilst the overall Rankings are tabulated to cover Divisions A, B & C, there is also Rankings for the Senior Division and Masters Division, as per varying age groups.

Dr. C. Thurairaja captured the top Rank in the Senior Gross from Hemasiri Subasinghe, Ranjith Wirasinghe and Rienzie Fernando respective­ly, whilst Subasinghe earned the number 1 Rank in the Senior Nett category from Rienzie Fernando and Wirasinghe.

In the RCGC Masters Grand Prix Kumar Boralessa won the double by being Ranked Number 1 in both the Gross and Nett, with a comfortabl­e lead in both. Nihal Boralessa was Ranked second in the Gross with Ajith Dissanayak­e third and B M R Preena finishing in fourth place. B M R Preena was second in the Nett cat e gory fo l l owed by Nihal Boralessa and Raja Nagalingam in fourth place.
