Partnership of OSC and Sujatha BV

-

The students studying in the English medium of Sujatha BV will be facing the GCE Ordinary Level Examination this year for the first time in the history of the school. The Overseas School of Colombo conducted a seminar in mathematics to help the girls who are preparing for the examination. These two schools have had a longterm partnership and the students of Sujatha BV have visited OSC on an annual basis for academic interaction.

The seminar consisted of four sessions conducted by the four teachers of the mathematics department of OSC. Smart boards were used in all sessions and one of the sessions also used personal I-pads. The topics covered were set theory, statistics, probability and graphing where the students were introduced to the ‘Desmos’ graphing package.

Imandi Wijayaratne who is the Head Prefect of Sujatha BV was also a participant. This is what she had to say about the visit. “We had enriching time in everything we did at the Overseas School of Colombo. The school moto ‘Unity in Diversity’ was evident to us in action. From the time of our arrival we were welcomed, secured and treated by the school members. We met with many talented teachers who shared their valuable knowledge with us under various circumstances. Their excellent preparations were very well visible to us. Moreover, we played games with technical support and experienced another area of graphs, and as always, we were once again impressed by the neatness, system- atic and pleasant environment as well as the hospitality at the Overseas School. The eve- friendly environment at the school enabled us to be a part of the school. We would like to extend our special thanks to Mr. Nimal De Silva for organizing this visit for the past few years”

OSC is regarded the most prestigious international school in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Founded in 1957, OSC remains Sri Lanka’s old- est internationally accredited educational institution. It is the only school in Sri Lanka to offer the International Baccalaureate ( IB) Programme from Pre- school to Grade 12. At OSC parents and teachers partner in working together to create the kind of environment where children not only learn, but thrive. OSC develops the whole person as a responsible learner striving for personal excellence within a culturally diverse school.
