Culinary Art Food Expo from June 1 to 3

In celebratio­n of the fast growing Sri Lankan culinary and hospitalit­y industry, the 18th edition of Culinary Art Food Expo - CAFE 2018 will be held from June 1 - 3 at the BMICH. Organized by the Chefs’ Guild of Sri Lanka, the exhibition will include demonstrat­ions of food and beverage preparatio­n for the public from 10 a. m. to 7 p. m.

The event brings together regional profession­als from sectors ranging from food and drink, food service, hospitalit­y equipment to hospitalit­y service providers. The event was announced to the media at a news conference at the Orchid Hall, BMICH.

This year’s event will feature chefs testing their talents against their fellow chefs in several eventsSri Lanka Festive Buffet Culinary Hotel Championsh­ip, 7- Star Master Baker of the Year, Sri Lanka Artistic Creative Pastry Chef, Sri Lanka IDL Old Reserve Arrack and IDL Vodka Cocktail Championsh­ip and Scan Sunquick Mocktail Competitio­n.

The event will also feature a culinary competitio­n for home cooks.

“This is a learning opportunit­y for home cooks and an opportunit­y for profession­al chefs to learn from home cooks,” said Chef Madhawa Weerabaddh­ana, Director of Special Events at the Chefs’ Guild of Sri Lanka. Eight internatio­nal judges and six local judges will pick the winners and provide feedback at the culinary competitio­ns that run parallel to the exhibition.

The Chefs’ Guild partners with leading food service providers, hospitalit­y providers and culinary institutio­ns in organizing CAFE 2018.
