DMS In Partnership With Taxiyak Launches Smart Taxi Meter (TG.1)

-

The Taxi Generation 1 ( TG. 1) Smart Meter is where the future is at. Airport Travels Holdings (Pvt) Ltd- the genius minds behind the revolutionary Taxiyak- recently shook the world of innovation with its new product, the TG. 1 Smart Meter, which really delivers on the ‘smart’ scale.

DMS, with their years of experience and expertise as one of the pioneers of the IT industry in Sri Lanka has partnered with

A i r p o rt Tr ave l s Holdings in launching the product.

One of Sri Lanka’s leading finance companies, Richard Peiris Finance has also j oined hands as finance partners so as to provide their services through convenient finance options for TG. 1 Smart Meter purchases.

So what is the deal about the TG.1?

The TG. 1 Smart

Meter designed by Airport Travels Holdings is the first of its kind to be introduced not just in

Sri Lanka, but in the entire world. Despite the meters in tuks, passengers cannot be assured that the rate they set is uniform. How can tuk drivers offer their passengers the guarantee that the tuk fare is consistent among their peers? Up until now, tuk drivers had no such assurance to give to the passengers. But the TG.1 Smart Meter built as per the government regulations has put an end to that.

With an inbuilt receipt printer, the device can churn out a receipt detailing the necessary information upon completion of the journey. Get into any meter tuk in Colombo, and you will see the little black box that measures the distance you travel and calculate the fare. Well, the TG.1 takes it several steps further. It not only measures distances and calculates your fare, but also gives you a receipt, through the inbuilt receipt printer.

Smart enough, but the TG.1’s technology does not stop there. Touchscreen technology has invaded our lives to the point that we are now accustomed to automatically swiping the screen of the devices we use. And the TG.1 brings this technology on board: no longer do you have to swipe at a screen and then feel foolish when you realize that it is not touch-enabled.

And what about payment? Day by day, we are given more payment options. No longer do we have to bother with pulling out wads of crumpled cash from our wallets. The TG.1 accommodates the crowds who have embraced the electronic way of payment. The device is NFC ( Near- field Communication) enabled and can accept your debit or credit card.

Tuks are a dime a dozen, but what customer would not like the tuk that offers a range of amazing services that goes beyond merely going from Point A to Point B? Designed and manufactured as per the government regulations, the TG.1 is tamper-proof, gives you an accurate fare calculation and is very secure. The fact that the meter is built in compliance with government regulations makes it a bigger deal for the driver who will have more passengers hopping into their tuks without any hesitance or fear of being unfairly charged for their trip.

“At the moment, this is a meter for any taxi, that empowers and enables any customer to pay with their credit card, NFC, and get a receipt. One of the rationales for issuing the receipt is to protect customer identity and privacy, as most hailing apps on hail rides request for passenger’s mobile number in order to send the receipt via sms, but with TG.1 Smart Meter this is not the case as it prints a receipt at the end of the trip so there is no need for a sms,” commented Mr Hanif M. Ibrahim, Managing Director of Airport Travels Holdings.

Beyond the moment, what else can the TG. 1 Smart Meter do? We hail taxis to drive us to the nearest supermarket to pay our bills. How easy would our lives be if we can simply visit our usual tuk guy to pay off our bills? With the innovative minds behind the TG.1 coming together, flirting with sci- fi- esque concepts could birth ideas that can bring the future to our doorsteps today, it is certain.

“With the TG. 1, the future is with you… The TG.1 soon will be an additional revenue generator for the drivers and will help further uplift their living standards. Like the smartphone revolutionized the internet, this will revolutionize another part of our lives,” commented Mr. Ibrahim.

The TG.1 is brought to Sri Lanka by DMS, a company with a rich history of over 40 years in the IT industry. The device, in turn, is then distributed in Sri Lanka by Taxiyak, its sole distribution agent.

Speaking to us Mr. Ershard Hallaldeen, General Manager of DMS stated, “We have not come across cost effective solutions for accepting card payments in Taxi and transport industry in the past based on traditional card payment devices. However, the requirement for a taxi meter to give a print out to the consumer and the innovation of introducing a smart taxi meter using GPS technology from Airport Travels Holdings gave us an opportunity to provide a platform to enable card payments to the same. The flexible technology that is employed in this solution allows many more services to be easily presented to the doorstep of the consumers, which we believe is revolutionary. DMS Electronics is proud to be part of this revolution and be a partner to this new customer experience channel.”

So if you want to experience the might of the TG.1 for yourself, simply hail a Taxiyak!
