Cream of WP Schoolboy Spikers in action

The 12th edition of the Blue, Gold & Blue Western Province ( WP) Invitation Schools Volleyball (VB) Championship 2018, organised and conducted by the Royal College Union Volleyball Advisory & Management Committee ( RCUVAMC), under the patronage of the RCU, will be held on June 9, 10, at the Royal College ground, Reid Avenue, Colombo.

The tournament will be conducted for Boys in 4 age groups: Under ( U)- 14, U- 16, U-18, U-20 and only U-19 for the Girls, with 100 teams from over 50 schools in the WP, invited for the tourney.

"Our main objective is to conduct a quality Schools' VB tournament, to uplift the standards of this National sport, while, at the same time, promoting this game both at National and Collegiate level. Since its inauguration in 2005, we have come a long way with this tournament, and its 12th successive year is its best testimony," said RCUVAMC President Nermala Sarathchchndra.

"As of now, the RCUVAMC has transformed VB as one of the best performing sports at Royal College, producing a number of outstanding Junior National VB players in the recent past, which is a remarkable feat indeed," he added.

Attractive trophies and medals are on offer, with Special awa rds f or t he Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament and the Best Setter in both categories.

The Opening Ceremony will be held on Day 1, June 9, at 8.30 am, while the semifinals and the finals will start from 10.30 am onwards on Day 2. The tournament will culminate with the awards ceremony later on Day 2.
