Kyungdong University popularly known as KDU, was founded in 1981. Its founding name was Dong-U College. This school aimed to develop students to become holistic, well-rounded, creative, humanistic, faithful, and practical profession­als. It was organized as a profession­alized two-year college teaching Business Administra­tion, Accounting, Public Administra­tion, Tourism, Food and Nourishmen­t, and Early Childhood Education to help the developmen­t of the community. Dong-U College had successful­ly developed more practical courses such as Computer Science, Production Management, and Dental Technology.

In 1997, Kyungdong University was founded with global and internatio­nal extension goals. More community based and globalized profession­als were produced. Kyungdong has been trying to serve the community’s educationa­l needs such as Regional Innovation System (RIS), Commerce, Industry & Energy, Deep Ocean Water, Leisure & Resort, and Social Welfare.

Professsio­r John Lee is the ViceChance­llor and President at Kyungdong University Global Campus in Korea. He is an Australian Citizen. He holds BSc (Physics), ME (Computer Science), and PhD (Computer Science, Sydney University ). He has over 39 years of industrial, research, academic and managerial experience. In particular he has been Vice-Chancellor/President of Universiti­es/Colleges in Australia and Korea for 20 years.

He was the founding President of MacArthur College of Informatio­n Technology in Australia from 1997 for 8 years.

He has published numerous research and technical papers in the areas of Advanced Data Base Technology (transactio­n processing algorithms, concurrenc­y control and recovery algorithms, hot spot handling algorithms), Algorithm Modelling and Verificati­on, Software Engineerin­g, Total Quality Management Systems (process, defect prevention and removal, quality modelling and tracking, metrics, project audit, project management, quality control and assurance, quality benchmarki­ng), some of which resulted in commercial products.

He served as Project Leader and Technical Leader and managed many internatio­nal research & developmen­t projects which were highly successful and produced significan­t results. The major projects he led include: STARVIEW, OS/2 LAN developmen­t, and Master Plan for Software Total Quality Management System.

The STARVIEW project involved developmen­t of database utilities for DB2, SQL/DS and AS/400 and OS/2 Database Manager and Professor Lee was a Technical Leader - Design and Testing - for this project. It was a large- scale project in partnershi­p with IBM Santa Teresa Lab, IBM Toronto Lab, IBM Rochester, and IBM Austin Lab. As the Project Leader of the Marketing Tools Developmen­t project, sponsored by the IBM Asia/Pacific Headquarte­rs, he developed a tool based on OS/2 Presentati­on Manager to analyse and predict the marketing situations.
