Taking into consideration the job opportunities that exist for ICT graduates in Sri Lanka & Ove r s e a s , The University of Colombo School of Computing ( UCSC) took the initiat ive to launch the External Degree programme leading to the award of Degree of Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT).
Foundation of Information Technology ( FIT) is a pre- degree programme that prepares students to read for their first Degree in Information Technology. This programme provides an alternative path for students, who do not have three ( 3) passes in A/ L s to enroll for the BIT Degree. It is designed for anyone irrespective of the study streams which they followed during G.C.E A/L s. FIT consists of three units ( ICT Applications, Mathematics for ICT and English for ICT) and University of Colombo School of Computing will issue these certificates once you successfully complete relevant assessment of the FIT programme. FIT is also a certification programme for employment seekers or school leavers to justify their knowledge and skills in ICT for their future endeavors.
From the inception of BIT Degree, OpenArc Campus has been conducting classes for FIT, while providing opportunities for students to register for the BIT degree programme of University of Colombo. OpenArc is the only FIT & BIT teaching institution which handles large scale software devel- opment projects such as banking solutions. The FIT new batch for 2018 will start on 23rd June 2018.
